On 3rd December 2024, we hosted the Future First: ECCE Ideas in Action roundtable at the India International Centre, New Delhi. The event brought together leading civil society organisations (CSOs) working on Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) to share innovative approaches, discuss challenges, and build collaborative solutions for the sector’s growth in India.
India’s 137 million children under the age of six represent both an urgent challenge and an incredible opportunity. With 85% of brain development happening before this age, creating the right foundation for early childhood education is critical.
Key Takeaways:
- Curriculum Innovation: Discussions on creating more adaptable and inclusive ECCE curricula.
- Workforce Development: Focus on training and empowering educators to meet the needs of young learners.
- Improved Measurement Tools: Sharing best practices for accurately assessing child development at scale.
A Shared Commitment to Change
The roundtable was a vital platform for collective action, with participants contributing valuable insights into how to advance ECCE in India. Collectively, we explored the pathways to a more inclusive, impactful, and sustainable future for early childhood education in the country.
